ABOUT US

The aim of our R&D&I Polymer Group (GPol) was initially focused on the synthesis, characterization and mathematical modeling of formaldehyde resins.
Over time, new research lines related to bio-based polymers and sustainable polymerization processes were focused according to academic trends and industrial needs in the framework of technical assistance agreements with Centro S.A. (Karikal®) and Soluciones s.r.l (Tresol).
The primary research interest of our group is to generate knowledge and promote University-Industry interaction in the areas of polymer science and engineering.
Our group is developing new bio-based materials with improved end-use properties and low environmental impact.

Work is in progress in the following research areas:

• Lignin-Modified Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins for Composites;
• Polymers based on Vegetable Oils for Solid Surfaces;
• Polylactic acid from Whey;

Recently, we have opened new investigation lines for the following applications:

• Lignin-Modified Thermoplastics;
• Lignin Nanoparticles as Carriers for Drug Delivery in Cancer;
• Nanoparticles as Pesticides and Fertilizers Carriers.
